AI in Education
AI in Education is a growing trend, with experts debating its role. While some believe teaching can't be replaced by technology, many agree that AI can enhance learning experiences. The discussion centers on the balance between human interaction and technological assistance in the classroom.
In another development, OpenAI and Arianna Huffington have announced a collaboration on a new project called Thrive AI Health. The initiative aims to create an "AI health coach" to help users adopt healthier habits by analyzing their biometrics. The project highlights the expanding role of AI in personal well-being.
Disinformation and AI
Disinformation campaigns using AI are on the rise. Russian AI bots promoted a fake story about Zelensky’s wife purchasing a Bugatti with US aid, spread by bots and state media. Meanwhile, an Israeli firm was tied to a covert AI-driven campaign targeting US lawmakers to support operations in Gaza.
The U.S. Justice Department has intervened, taking down an AI-powered Russian disinformation network on social media. These actions highlight the increasing sophistication and international reach of AI-driven disinformation efforts.
AI in Healthcare
OpenAI and Arianna Huffington have teamed up to create an AI health coach through Thrive AI Health. This bot aims to nudge users towards healthier habits based on biometrics and peer-reviewed science.
Oura has introduced a personalized coach as part of its "Made for Members" update, designed to help users reach health goals. This follows the company’s latest health feature test.
AI is also being leveraged to alleviate stress for cancer patients. Personalized AI-enabled tests can offer hope and confidence during their diagnosis, according to Andre Esteva.
Samsung Galaxy AI Upgrades
Samsung has announced upgrades to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, featuring Google Gemini AI. These foldables will replace Google Assistant with Gemini, while also integrating Circle to Search capabilities.
New AI enhancements include Live Translate for WhatsApp, broadening functionality to third-party apps. The Galaxy Watch 7 and the first-of-its-kind Galaxy Watch Ultra will also receive Wear OS 6 support and Galaxy AI features.
Preorders for the new Galaxy foldables are available now ahead of their official launch on July 24th.
Tech Giants and AI Governance
Microsoft has officially given up its observer role on OpenAI's board, citing that its participation is no longer needed. This decision comes amidst increasing antitrust scrutiny of AI partnerships.
Apple is also opting out of a similar role, negating earlier reports that Phil Schiller would join the ChatGPT maker’s board in a non-voting capacity. These moves suggest both tech giants may be playing a long game in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
